Danniebelle Hall, award-winning
international Gospel recording artist and composer, passed away
peacefully on December 28, 2000 at Washington Hospital in Fremont,
California.
The fourth of eight
children, she was born October 6, 1938 to the late William and
Danniebell Jones. By age three she had begun playing the piano.
She confessed Christ at an early age; and was a product of the
Pittsburgh public schools and Mount Mercy College (liberal arts).
To advance her passion for spreading the Gospel through song,
she enlisted the vocal talents of her two younger sisters and
formed the trio, The Jones Sisters.
In 1958, she married.
They were members of the Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, where
she served as choir director, and he as deacon. It was her husband
who encouraged her to follow her dream of global ministry through
music.
In 1969, she formed
a group called The Danniebelles. The group went on tour with the
World Crusade Ministries, and sang to units of the United States
armed forces during the Vietnam War. This tour promoted the growth
of the popularity of The Danniebelles beyond expectations.
A few years later,
Danniebelle joined her favorite Gospel group, Andre Crouch and
the Disciples. She was featured on such classic Gospel recordings
as, Take Me Back and Soon and Very Soon. Danniebelle also sang
and recorded several solo albums.
Although she composed
and arranged music, she found great fulfillment in being a lyricist.
She is admired for having set biblical passages to music. She
also encouraged and inspired the recording efforts of new and
younger artists.
Her brother, and former
husband preceded her in death.
To cherish her memories
she leaves two daughters, one son, three sisters, three brothers,
two sons-in-law, eight grandchildren.
