PRECIOUS
THOUGHT: STROKES OF LOVE!
My
son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be
weary of His correction: For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs
3:11&12
This
month's devotion deals with chastening. God's hand only
yields gentle strokes of love (although it may not feel
like it some times). When you feel His chastening rod, be
reminded that He is favoring you. He is thinking of you
in love. He loves you too much to let you go on in your
own way. He cares for you too much to sit idly by and let
you move uninhibited into destruction. So remember: He strokes
us in love when we're chastened. What a precious thought!
What
wondrous love, how can it be, That God would care to chasten
me?
He
could just let me go astray, Do as I please and lose my
way.
But
He constrains and loves me so; With love that will not let
me go.
Since
He does this so I'll be blessed; May I repent with gratefulness.
What
is man, that Thou art mindful of him? Hebrews 2:6
