My name is Alfonso Freeman. I am an actor and singer by profession, and I happen to be the eldest son of actor Morgan Freeman. I didn't know my dad all of my life. I was raised by my mom, in church (Assembly of God), and I grew up on your music. It continues to bless me today. I still have all (or most) of your early albums, and they all in good shape, so I can continually listen to them, even in this digital age.
I heard in the wind, I can't remember where, that you had been ill. While looking on the Internet for other Gospel music information, I found a link to your page, looked you up, and here I am. I am sorry that you have had so much difficulty recently, but as you said in so many words, God is Faithful. That has been my mantra now for the past 10 years having gone through (and continuing to go through) so many trials of my own. It was such an encouragement for me to read what you so candidly wrote about your struggles and your condition, and how you continue to stand. It is particularly good, because I have recently begun to battle cynicism, having seen so much 'junk' in the institutional church as well as in my personal life. Thank God the true 'Church', the Bride of Christ isn't that way. But sadly I now struggle with the flesh for allowing cynicism to take so much energy from my prayer and Word life. I can't help to repeat, however, that "God is Faithful", because I often think that when reward time comes in eternity, I'll have enough wood hay and stubble to torch Texas and not even enough gold and silver to fill a tooth. But I know Jesus still loves me, and I love Him, although demonstration is somewhat wanting at present.
I know you have a lot of people coming at you; some with well wishes, some with good intentions, and a number asking you for personal correspondence. I fall in the latter category.
