I remember the very first time heard a Danniebelle song. I was at a close friend's house. While sitting enjoying a very interesting conversation I heard some music coming from another room. I excused myself and walked to that room to find my friend's daughter listing to a most powerful song. The lyric was captivating and the piano was, to me, spell binding.
I asked my friends daughter "Who is that!".
Her reply was "Danniebelle".
"Dannie who! " I replied thinking that I has some how misunderstood what she had said.
"Danniebelle Hall" she replied again.
In my mind I thought, "this woman got a gift" and then proceeded to look at the album cover to figure out what song was playing (CD's had not been invented yet back then :-). It was "He Giveth More Grace".
I stayed in that back room the rest of the day listening to that album. I was hooked and have been a fan ever sense.
If you will, allow me another few moments to say that she was one of the most influential singers of my lifetime. She wrote songs and sang with a passion that is absolutely and truly rare. Through her inspired writings she has conveyed both the pain of our earthly struggles and the sublime joy of our hope and relationship with our creator and savior.
I realize that is a bit weird to feel such a great loss for a person that
I've never even seen or met personally, but the blessings that she has given me
through her inspired songs in my early Christian walk provides me with
encouragement to this very day.
I know it is very selfish of me, but I think the word has gotten just a bit
darker because of her loss. But I will remember her and be encouraged for the
joy that she provides though her music. She has enlightened my life with the
inspiration she has brought to me and to countless others.
She will be missed… but not forgotten.
