Last week for Valentine's Day, my wife gave me a copy of the CD re-release of Danniebelle's Live in Sweden and another album. It was not until I read the cover that I discovered that she had gone home to be with the Lord. I was greatly saddened to hear this. In the seventies when I was a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she sang me through many difficult times. In the last 70s when I was in Boston in seminary, she was a real source of consolation in difficulty timess. She was influential in shaping my own music ministry.
The clear vocal stylings, the musical articulation of the word of God, the pause in the middle of a structured worship service to worship and adore the Lord musically without apology or explanation, the commitment to clarity of message that touched both the heart and the mind. I am saddened that the ministry vessel is no longer with us and further saddened that I did not know that she was suffering with physically illness.... it would have been my privilege to lift her in prayer. I thank God that she knows Him and that we have the assurance that she is with Him.
