I just found out this Sunday that one of my favorite female gospel vocalist had apssed away. During our sunday service at New Light Christian Center Church, Dr. I.V. Hilliard, Ordinary People was playing during the news segment of our annoucements during our church service. As I started singing along with Danniebelle, the music director told me that she had passed away but I did not want to believe it. I called my brother that night and ask if he had heard that Danniebelle had passed away but he said no. So I got on my pc and found that it was true.
I met here at concert in Houston in 1983 as I was the feature new recording artist and it was a birthday celebration for the new radio station. It was a great concert with Carmen, Phil Driscol, Danniebelle, etc.. The Concert ended on a bang with her calssic I Go To The Rock and we all jammed on the stage. What a great time and moment. What a great opportunity to be able to perform with the ledgen.. I will truly miss her and Gospel Music has never been the same since the 70's.
